Dear Pheasant Hunters, Duck Hunters & Outdoor Enthusiasts,

Pheasant hunting, quail hunting, duck and goose hunting is what brought my father, Jack, to Idaho in the early 1960’s. He would always tell me about the great Idaho pheasant hunting. The bountiful and thick cover was the best hunting conditions for wild birds. Therefore, when creating the Lazy Bear Ranch Shooting Preserve my goal was to make every client feel like it’s the opening day of pheasant hunting in 1965.

As an All-American football player at UCLA, I was a Bruin… a “baby bear”; then I became a Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bear. So it’s only fitting that I named my executive hunting retreat in Weiser, Idaho “The Lazy Bear Ranch.” We are the only outfitter that offers pheasant hunting, quail hunting, duck hunting and goose hunting all in the same day. This is due to our unique location in Weiser, Idaho and the fact that I am a licensed Waterfowl Hunting Guide in the state of Oregon as well as a licensed Hunting Guide in Idaho. All our pheasant hunting and waterfowl hunts are fully guided. If you come out for one of our “Day Pheasant Hunts” expect to have a really nice lunch in our beautiful outdoor kitchen, made to impress your most finicky (City Slickers) friends or clients. If you’re flying in to take advantage of our all-inclusive Upland game hunting and Waterfowl hunting weekends you can expect first class service and accommodations. We’ll pick you up at the airport; our chef will prepare your gourmet meals; and you can relax at our 5800 square foot lodge in between your morning duck hunts and your afternoon pheasant hunts. One of the things I’ve always despised about duck hunting and goose hunting is waking up so early to get out to the duck blind and set up decoys. My assistant does all that for us. We simply glide up in the boat about 15 minutes before shooting time. When we’ve finished duck hunting and goose hunting, my assistant gathers the decoys and returns your birds cleaned and packaged up. Our only “job” is to enjoy the hunt and return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of pheasant hunting. Feel free to use your dog or ours. All the FUN…none of the work!

The Lazy Bear Ranch is 190 acres of designed Pheasant and Quail hunting habitat located on the Weiser River. Our Weiser River has been named as one of the top ten best Smallmouth bass fishing rivers in the country. Guests are also welcome to try their luck at The Lazy Bear’s two ponds that total more than 15 acres in size and stocked with Largemouth bass and Bluegill. So if you enjoy seeing bird dogs work, the rush of wild upland game busting out at your feet, the thrill of migrating ducks and geese landing in your decoys, and eating like a king… then the Lazy Bear Ranch is the destination for you!
